Which Wallets Can I Use?

STOKR supports two types of wallets:

• Custodial wallets managed by providers such as Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, or Bitstamp, where the such exchanges or platforms  hold the private keys on your behalf.
• Self-custody wallets where you control the private keys yourself, such as MetaMask, Ledger, Trust Wallet, or Electrum.

A custodial wallet is an arrangement where a third-party service provider retains control of the private keys, and users access their assets through the provider’s platform interface. 

By contrast, a self-custody wallet is one where the user exclusively holds the private keys (typically safeguarded via a recovery/seed phrase), and therefore bears full responsibility for the safekeeping and accessibility of the assets. Your keys and your coins.

Both types are supported on STOKR, though the verification process differs depending on the wallet.
